Refurbishment of a Small House on a Quaint Site with Panoramic Views
Designed as a retirement cottage, the client found a small house perched on a beautiful hill overlooking the backwaters and the fertile agrarian plains in Kashid. This particular cottage – one of many – perched on this small development was originally designed as a weekend hotel for guests from Mumbai. Owing to its context and the natural lay of the land, the design exercises restraint to retain the existing slope and angle of the roof.

The project considers minimal, clear and simple interventions – new roof, new floor, extension of the deck, addition of a small pool and re-organisation of the internal space to open the living areas to the vistas from the site. New doors and windows will add contemporary elements and a certain clarity of form while retrofitting of modern services enhances the quality of experience within the space.
