Freedom Tree 2019

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit

On a corner plot in Indiranagar, the client, Latika Khosla, found an old house. Constructed in the 1980s, this structure was originally designed as a family home on a system that was part concrete frame and part
load-bearing in brick. The challenge was to convert this house into a contemporary, warm retail space without compromising its structural and built integrity with with minimal intervention. A simple strategy was employed to open up the otherwise constricted facade and to bring in light. A continuous circulation from the ground to the top floor was worked out and walls were demolished strategically to accommodate a new program. The bright cement floors and the transparent facade also enabled Freedom Tree to showcase their beautiful palette of materials and objects. Over time, the corner house became a corner-store!
