House in Sangolda
Goa
Designed on a long and narrow site that opens out to lush paddy fields, the approach is to carve out a mass into inhabitable volumes and spaces. With a program that imagines the ground and the first floors as two independent units. Two courtyards – one small private and intimate and the other large and public, intersperse the volumes and help create transitions. The studio space with a loft for a painting workshop is designed as an austere vaulted structure with beautiful tall windows opening into the court. Cascading terraces look into the central space creating a light-filled sanctum where all the volumes open.
