A Place in the Shade

A collection of Charles Correa’s essays, A Place in the Shade is a seminal book authored and edited by Correa as an assimilation of a lifetime of writing. The texts in the book touch upon critical issues that were central to Charles Correa’s ideas on architecture, urbanism and housing. The book, originally published by Penguin, was redesigned in close consultation with Nondita Correa Mehrotra (series editor).

The new layouts reimagined the reading experience in terms of typography, legibility, flow, organisation and context all the while retaining the essence of Correa’s layouts and the content-graphics relationships from the vintage book. The cover was re-designed using Charles Correa’s sketch and fine un-bleached paper is used for the print.
