As professional architects, we involve ourselves in understanding the parameters of each project and in searching for a unique response therein. Our work resists image-making and templatising in the favour of what is ‘appropriate’ for the immediate and distant context of the project. We work with the clients and stakeholders to understand the economics, user groups, functional demands, landscape and site potentials, material possibilities, cultural preferences and emotional qualities in all our work in order to design in a way that the resultant built environment articulates and addresses the ambition of the project. Our work is rooted in its own reality. We strive to create spaces that talk to the people rather than talking at them.

CONTENT, CURATION & PUBLISHING
We are deeply interested in the culture of contemporary architecture and design in India. Our interest extends to the history, practice and pedagogy of architecture. Through our self-initiated and professional curatorial projects, we strive to create engaging platforms for a mature professional discourse on architecture in India and the subcontinent. We publish books and journals, author exhibitions, curate conclaves and seminars, chronicle good contemporary work in India through our digital and rich-media channels and produce content initiatives (events, exhibitions, publications etc.) that address critical thought processes in contemporary Indian architecture. We curate, author, edit, design and publish.

PEDAGOGY, RESEARCH & DOCUMENTATION
In collaboration with government bodies, non-government / civic organisations, educational institutions, we undertake long and short-term research and documentation projects that have an element of architecture and design. We create data-collection frameworks, support on-ground surveys and documentation and enable design-led decision making for large-scale thinking. Our process includes framing the problem – documentations and ground-surveys – conceptualising – executing demonstration-projects – and enabling scaling. We have employed this process to work on ideas like child-friendly Anganwadis, village-level waste-sorting and recovery centres, affordable housing strategies etc. with multiple stakeholders.
